The auspicious puja for the Vagdan (engagement) ceremony, in which both families perform the ritual of committing to the wedding. Duration is about one hour. Dakshina / Service charge: Starting from ₹2,500 (pandit ji included). The cost of puja samagri may be separate; this will be clearly explained at the time of booking. What is this puja In this puja, after Ganpati worship, the groom's and bride's sides take a sankalp and declare the wedding promise. Then tilak, rings and gifts are exchanged. It is regarded as the formal and auspicious beginning of the relationship. Usual samagri required • Kalash and mango leaves • Roli, mauli and akshat • Ring and gifts • Flower garlands • Sweets and fruits • Coconut and paan-supari • Incense, lamp and camphor The full samagri list will be finalised after consulting the pandit ji. Auspicious date / muhurat The auspicious day and muhurat for the engagement are fixed with the pandit ji after consulting the panchang.

Process / Steps

Step 1

Sankalp is taken, followed by Ganpati and kalash puja.

Step 2

The kuldevta is remembered.

Step 3

Both sides take the sankalp of Vagdan.

Step 4

Tilak is applied and rings and gifts are exchanged.

Step 5

The blessings of the elders are taken.

Step 6

The ceremony concludes with aarti and distribution of sweets. The order may vary slightly by tradition.
